Ujjain, July 31, 2019: Launched on 4th July 2016, PM Ujjwala Yojana has accomplished a lot. More than 7.5 crore beneficiaries have received LPG connections under the scheme. In MP about 67 lakh connections have been allotted by the OMC out of which 32 lakh connections are provided by IndianOil. Madhya Pradesh (MP) has retained 4th position ( After UP, WB and Bihar) in achieving massive reach of LPG specially within rural areas.

Sanjeev Mathur, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation (M.P. State) informed this here on Wednesday. He said “In June’19, 100 days target under PMUY is set to release 10 lacs LPG connections in MP. Till date 3.3 lacs connections have been released & IOC has released 1.7 lacs against a target of 4.8 lacs connections”.

He further said that “In Madhya Pradesh Neemuch district has highest refill average of 5.7 cylinders per beneficiary. 3452 villages have been declared saturated in Madhya Pradesh. Due to combined efforts of all OMCs, the LPG penetration has increased from 41% in 2016 to 80% as on date”.

To sustain the habit of cooking using clean fuel, IOC, Madhya Pradesh has already issued 129 new LOIs (letter of intent) for appointment of Durgam Kshetriya Vitrak (DKV) for setting up of new LPG distributorships in interior and rural areas of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Mathur said.

In order to benefit consumers who are unable to buy a 14Kg refill, 5 Kg cylinders are made available at affordable rates. Today MP has the highest 5 kg consumers in the country with a target of close to 6 lakh filling of 5kg cylinders. Since the inception of swapping of normal cylinders with 5 kg cylinders, IndianOil MP has seen the highest conversion close of 10,000 consumers and has refilled around 1 Lac cylinders achieving highest refill sale in country.
