New Delhi, February : World University of Design, a UGC recognized university and India’s first and only University dedicated to education in the creative domain flagged off their annual design festival “CULT – 2019” on 15th February. The fest is back with a packed two days program of design events, project showcase, talks, exhibitions, and competitions. This year’s Workshop on “In-Cubing Challenge” at the festival aims at providing wings to the entrepreneurial spirit of the students and encouragee them to present innovative startup ideas with experts from various industries and subsequently, win an opportunity for incubation.
World University of Design’s annual design fest “CULT 2019” gets off to a flying start
The festival attract students from colleges in and around Delhi NCR & other states to compete on a big scale and showcase their talents. The two-day event is expected to be attended by almost 2000 students. On the first day of the annual cultural festival students participated in various creative competitions such as Wall Art project, live sketching, paper shaper, chal-ruk the stop motion animation, shoot at sight and Tell with Tiles. These competitions help the students in building team-spirit, organizational abilities and leadership qualities among themselves. Continuing with the tradition of a celebrity performance, the evening ended with an energetic live performance by Asees Kaur, the emerging Indian playback singer who has participated in various singing reality shows like Indian Idol and Awaz Punjab Di.
On this occasion Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, WUD said, “Design is omni-present and plays an important role in our everyday lives. For the betterment of our society it is very important that we take measures to create, sustain and grow our built environment. Our purpose of coming up with this festival is multifold: besides bringing out latent talent in creative or performing arts, organization of fest also brings out leadership, team-spirit, organizational abilities & marketing finesse among students.”
The lush World University of Design campus dotted with art & design installations and prizes over four lakh rupees waiting to be claimed by the winners in different activities are what every student looks forward to. Students can participate in competitions across dance, drama, music, literary, art, design and sports besides the fun events amongst many other planned activities. It will focus on how young minds come together to develop and integrate their college festival, an annual event, and become a part of the larger culture adding to the college heritage.
