Online classifieds and ecommerce company JustDial reported operational revenues of Rs 180.27 crore for the quarter ended December 2016 (Q3FY17). This represented a rise of 8.48% from Rs 166.17 crore from the same quarter last year. However, on a sequential basis, operational revenues dropped slightly from Rs 180.32 crore.
At the end of the quarter, JustDial was conducting paid campaigns 4,24,830 campaigns for advertisers as compared to 3,54,900 campaigns as of December 31, 2015, representing a growth of 20%. Divide the operating revenue by the number of campaigns, and it appears Justdial made Rs 4243 per paid campaign, down from Rs 4681 per paid campaign in the same quarter last year. Campaigns are essentially paid featured listings/recommendations on JustDial’s search.
Net profit in during the quarter stood at Rs 27.44 crore growing 5.9% from Rs 25.91 crore. However, net profit fell 7.35% from Rs 29.62 crore from the preceding quarter.
JustDial’s employee count decreased to 11,185 from 11,799 last quarter. However, employee costs increased marginally to Rs 111.86 crore from Rs 111.67 crore the last quarter. Employee expenditure accounts for around 67% of total costs for JustDial.
It is worth noting that in Q2 FY16, JustDial had said that said revenue growth was hit as the company did not make adequate hiring for its sales team. In the third quarter of the fiscal year 2016, the company said it would be adding more than 4,000 employees to handle sales for the company over the next 9-10 months.
JustDial’s Omni business
JustDial hasn’t yet released data for its Omni business, which is an inventory management product it introduced to help small businesses manage their online and offline sales. Last quarter, JustDial cut back its forecast on how businesses it could bring on board the Omni product. In the June quarter, the Omni business had reported Rs 5.5 crore in revenues, with 6,000 businesses signed up, of which revenue was being recognized for about 2000 contracts.
