BRLIS is a thanksgiving to Palair people: CM

HYDERABAD: If one has commitment and dedication, projects can be completed on time, said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday.  In a press release, the CM mentioned that the state government is happy to give the Bhakta Ramadasu Lift Irrigation Scheme to the people of Palair earlier than expected as a thanksgiving for electing Tummala Nageswara Rao with landslide majority in the by-election to the seat.

“Similarly, the government will complete all irrigation projects on time as a gift to the people of the state who gave a massive mandate to TRS in the last elections,” the Chief Minister said in the release.  The Bhakta Ramadasu Lift Irrigation Scheme (BRLIS), completed in a record 11 months to irrigate 60,000 acres, will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on January 31. Water will be released on Bhakta Ramadasu birth anniversary day, an official release said on Thursday. “It is one of the fastest completed projects in the country,” the release claimed.  Tenders were invited on e-procurement basis and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) was awarded the contract. The project is named after Lord Rama’s devotee Kancherla Gopanna aka Bhakta Ramadasu.

Trial run successful
Trial run of the first pump, motor and pipeline was conducted successfully on January 23. The pump released 300 cusecs of water to Kakatiya Sub Channel DBM-60. The second trial will be held in February. Thus the entire work pertaining to the scheme has been completed before the deadline. Nageswara Rao had convinced the farmers to give lands for the project wherever required and ensured better coordination among the officials. Rao congratulated Nageswara Rao, irrigation minister Harish Rao and irrigation department officials for their efforts. Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) SK Joshi said the successful completion of projects would give boost to the other major projects like PRLIS and Kaleshwaram.
