Odisha clears investment proposals worth Rs 3,000 crore


BHUBANESWAR: A fortnight after Odisha hosted its largest ever investors’ meet, the state government on Thursday cleared investment proposals worth Rs 3,000 crore in diverse sectors that would generate employment opportunity for nearly 22,000 people.
The state level single window clearance authority (SLSWCLA) led by chief secretary A P Padhi approved projects in sectors like apparel, food processing, tourism, chemical and petrochemicals, downstream metal and metal industries.
The panel also recommended a proposal of NLC India Limited to set up a power plant to the high level clearance authority led by chief minister Naveen Patnaik. The Navratna PSU has submitted a proposal to set up a power plant at Jharsuguda with an investment of Rs 11,783 crore.
“Most of the projects were committed by companies in the recently concluded Make in Odisha conclave while two others assured investment during the investors’ meet in Bengaluru,” said industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra after the meeting.
Among the proposals cleared are three star hotels in the city by Natraj Hotel and Resorts Private Limited (5-star) by investing Rs 140 crore, Marigold Heritage Private Limited (5-star) with an investment of Rs 268 crore and Crackers India Infrastructure Limited (4-star) by investing Rs 54 crore.
The tourism sector projects also include setting up of multiplex, food court, community centre and supermarket in all district headquarters by Carnival Films Private that aims to invest Rs 150 crore.
In the food processing sector, Adani Wilmar Limited, a venture of Gautam Adani-owned Adani Group would invest Rs 687 crore to set up a refined edible oil mill at Dhamra while Globus Spirits Limited would come up with a distillery with bottling plant at Chandbali by investing Rs 150 crore.
The state government also approved a proposal of Falcon Marine Exports Limited for a shrimp processing and freezing unit at Deras in the city outskirt and another of Eastern Nutriments Private Limited for a biscuit and dairy unit at Ramdaspur in Cuttack.
Also, proposals of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for an ethanol unit at Bhatli in Bargarh (Rs 500 crore) and Page industries Limited for a garment manufacturing unit at Ramdaspur (Rs 135 crore) cleared by the state government.
Shyam Metallics and Energy Limited, a steel billets, bars and flat products would invest Rs 870 crore for expansion of its unit at Jharsuguda while Rakhi Agencies Limited has evinced its interest to invest Rs 59 crore to set up an aluminium conductor and allow rod unit at the Angul Aluminium Park.
