Mr. Saxena co-chaired and contributed to 1st Meeting of the Advisory Working groups held on 28-29 March, 2016 in Bangkok and 2nd Meeting of Advisory Working Groups on 20 June, 2016 in Bangkok to support development of the ‘Asia Regional Plan for Implementation of the Sendai Framework’ and ISDR Asia Partnership (IAP) meeting held on 21-22 June, 2016 in Bangkok.

Established in 1999, UNISDR is a dedicated secretariat to facilitate the implementation of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR). It is led by the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), and serves as the focal point in the UN system for the coordination of disaster reduction and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the UN system and regional organizations and activities in socio‐economic and humanitarian fields.
The PSAWG’s mission is to create risk-resilient societies by energizing the private sector in collaboration with the public sector and other stakeholders to achieve the outcome and goal of the Sendai Framework in a transparent and inclusive way that delivers local and measurable impact.
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 provides a way forward to prevent and reduce disaster risk in order to achieve sustainable and risk resilient development. It offers a solution to saving lives, livelihoods and assets. The Sendai Framework’s primary focus on disaster risk management is a common element highlighted in all the post-2015 development agendas, adopted by all member states of the UN, such as the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
