Live: Sensex rises 175 points, Nifty holds 8,700; Yes Bank up 1%


11:05am: The Sensex is currently trading higher by 175.73 points, or 0.63%, to 28,160.10, while the Nifty rises 48.05 points, or 0.55%, to 8,707.15

10: 55am: Yes Bank rises 1% to Rs 1304.75 ahead of its September quarter earnings. According to 18 Bloomberg analyst estimates, the bank may post net profit of Rs 757.40 crore.

10: 45am: KPIT Technologies Ltd rises 2.7% to Rs139.35. KPIT Technologies, IT product and solutions firms, reported net profit dropped 23% for the second quarter ended 30 September 2016 at Rs 56.2 crore, compared to Rs 73.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year. Revenue for the quarter at Rs 831 crore is up 2.23% year-on-year

10: 35am: Aptech Ltd rises 5.4% to Rs 184 after the company reported consolidated net profit of Rs 7.1 crore for the quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 0.46 crore reported in the year-ago period.

10: 30am: Suzlon Energy Ltd rises 3.2% to Rs 15.28 after the company said it has signed Share Subscription and Shareholders’ Agreement with Unisun Energy Private Limited and Vayudoot Solarfarms Limited for setting-up of solar power project under Vayudoot, presently a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company and eventually sale of Vayuddot.

10: 20am: Quess Corp Ltd rises 4.2% to Rs 622 after the company said it it has entered into agreements to acquire stakes in Singapore-based Comtel Solutions and two domestic firms – Terrier Security Services and Simpliance Technologies – for undisclosed sums.

10: 15am: RBL Bank rises 2.2% to Rs 319.50. RBL Bank Ltd Wednesday said fiscal second-quarter profit rose 34% from a year ago on account of higher interest income. Net profit increased to Rs.89.89 crore in the three months ended 30 September from Rs.66.93 crore a year ago.

10:00am: The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex is currently trading higher by 221.67 points, or 0.79%, to 28,206.04, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rises 64.65 points, or 0.75%, to 8,723.75.

9:55am: Reliance Industries Ltd rises 1% to Rs1,096.95 ahead of its September quarter earnings. According to 6 Bloomberg analyst, the company may post net profit Rs7,282.50 crore while net sales will be at Rs 63669.90 crore.

9:45am: The rupee on Thursday is trading little changed against the US dollar at 66.68, down 0.01% from its previous close of 66.68, tracking the mixed Asian currencies.

9:35am: The benchmark 10-year government bond yield is trading at 6.735% compared to Wednesday’s close of 6.732%.

9:25am: The dollar gains to ¥103.59 from Thursday’s ¥103.38. The euro is nearly flat at $1.0974.

9:15am: Benchmark US crude sheds 13 cents to $51.69 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude falls 11 cents to $52.56 in London. It gained 99 cents the previous session to $52.67.

9:10am: Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 rises 1.2% to 17,201.52 points and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng adds 0.7% to 23,472.78. The Shanghai Composite Index sheds 0.1% to 3,082.03. Sydney’s S&P-ASX 200 advances 0.2% to 5,445.50 and Seoul’s Kospi gains 0.1% to 2,042.14. Benchmarks in Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta also advanced, while Manila and New Zealand declined.

9:00am: Asian stocks rises Thursday as traders watched US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump argued over economic policy and looked ahead to a meeting of euro zone central bankers.

8:50am: The Dow Jones industrial average gained 40.68 points, or 0.2%, to 18,202.62. The S&P 500 index rose 4.69 points, or 0.2%, to 2,144.29. The Nasdaq composite index added 2.58 points, or 0.1%, to 5,246.41.
