MUMBAI: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani joined issue with those opposing the ban on Pakistan artistes in India, saying the nation should come first and not arts and culture.
“I am absolutely clear about one thing -that for me it is always country first. I am not an intellectual so I don’t understand all this. But, undoubtedly, like for all Indians, India is first for me,” Ambani said on Monday night. The billionaire businessman was answering questions from the audience on the protests against Pakistani actors and other artistes at a show.
Any Indian would say so except people suffering from Modi phobia. Such people would have to wait for long time to be happy again.Brahmdeo Singh
Asked whether he planned to join politics, Ambani replied in the negative, saying “I am not made for politics”. The statement on Pakistani actors from the known movie buff, who is the richest Indian, comes amid criticism from some quarters about the demand for a ban on Pakistani actors in the wake of the Uri terror attack.
Single-screen theatre oper ators from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa had announced last week that they would not screen `Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and other movies featuring Pakistan artistes.
