As part of the Government of Gujarat’s international outreach programme, a delegation led by the Managing Director, Gujarat Informatics Ltd., will be visiting Taiwan from Oct 6-8, 2016 and a delegation led by Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat will be visiting Singapore from October 9-12, 2016
Key focus sectors of the delegations will be Electronics Manufacturing, Financial Services and Smart City Development
Ahead of the prestigious Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017, the Government of Gujarat will be mounting a high profile delegation to Taiwan and Singapore from October 6-12, 2016. With the theme of ‘Connecting India to World’, the Vibrant Gujarat delegation visit will feature various meetings and networking events, aimed at strengthening the cause of development in Gujarat, and promoting cooperation of Singapore and Taiwan with Gujarat.
The delegations led by Mr. Ashwini Kumar, IAS, Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat and Mr. Roopwant Singh, IAS, Managing Director, Gujarat Informatics Ltd., will be meeting representatives of the Governments of Taiwan & Singapore along with various industry leaders and academicians from multiple sectors. The delegates will also discuss some of the investor friendly policies, the favorable economic ecosystem and seamless approval procedures that Gujarat offers, making it one of the most sought after investment destinations globally. Gujarat was also ranked number 1 in ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in 2015 amongst all states of India in a joint study by the Government of India and World Bank.
Speaking on the delegation visit to Taiwan, Mr. Roopwant Singh said, “Our delegation’s objective is to strengthen relationship between Taiwan and India where Gujarat will play an important part by offering avenues across various sectors to further enhance business relationships between the two countries. We shall be pitching Gujarat’s strengths to potential investors across areas such as Infrastructure, Finance and Smart City Development. We also aim to leverage the platform of TAITRONICS 2016 to bring in new investments in the electronics manufacturing sector in Gujarat.”
In its visit to Taipei, Taiwan from Oct 6–8, 2016, the delegation is scheduled to participate in a Roundtable on Smart City Development with Taipei Computer Association, a Roundtable with World Trade Center Taipei and TAITRA members, followed by participation at the renowned ‘Taipei International Electronics Show 2016 (TAITRONICS)’ wherein the delegation will attend the ‘Make in India’ session and the delegation leader, Mr. Roopwant Singh will make a presentation on Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. Major Taiwanese investors in India such as CTBC Bank and CTCI Corporation would also be meeting the delegation and sharing their business forecasts for India.
Speaking on the delegation visit to Singapore, Mr. Ashwini Kumar said, “We view this as a good opportunity to tap the synergies between the nations and foster closer economic, trade and investment relations between India and Singapore. We aim to share first-hand information on growth opportunities available and projects which are ready for investment in Gujarat. We are also looking forward to a greater participation from Singapore at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017.”
The second leg of the roadshow will be carried out in Singapore from Oct 9-12, 2016. In Singapore, apart from organizing an investment seminar to highlight growth prospects in Gujarat, the delegation will be participating in meetings with marquee companies such as Ascendas-Singbridge, Sembcorp and Surbana Jurong. The delegation also has one-to-one meetings lined up with the senior management of bigwig investors such as Temasek Holdings, GIC, Blackstone Singapore and Equis Funds Group.
