Snapdeal on Monday said it has recorded its highest ever sales by both volume and value on any single day on Day 1 of the Unbox Diwali Sale. The ecommerce platform in a statement said it saw sales increase by 9X and 37 sellers crossed more than Rs 1 crore in turnover.
The company in a statement on Sunday said that it saw nearly 700,000 concurrent users flocking to the site within the first 5 minutes. Nearly 11 lakh buyers from over 2800 cities and towns across India bought at Snapdeal in the first 16 hours of the sale. The orders went to nearly 52,000 sellers from all over India and customers from over 2800 cities and towns across India placed their orders at Snapdeal.
‘Snapdeal Diwali Sale’ was most searched from Mizoram, Meghalaya, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir and more than 100,000 pairs of footwear was also sold on Day 1. The marketplace also manages to sell more than 2.5 lakhs kitchen appliances and cargo to be shipped on Day 1 can fill nearly 20 A380 Jumbos.
As sales volumes surged nearly 9X of average daily sales, Snapdeal witnessed more than 80% of orders coming from its mobile platforms. The traffic from tier 2 and 3 cities increased by 20 times, with maximum surge, other than metros, coming from Mizoram, Meghalaya, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir in that order.
Snapdeal had also sold 12 apartments and 846 bikes during the first 16 hours of the sale
