Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel Celebrated the 70th Independence Day Saluting the Modern Indian Women

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

To commemorate the occasion of the 70th Independence Day, Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel hoisted the Indian National Flag in the presence of the Founder and the girls of Purnata – an NGO working against human trafficking. This was followed by a special brunch along with the in-house expat community at the property’s residential apartments – Lakeside Chalet – Mumbai, Marriott Executive Apartments.
Established by Mr. Aaboo Varghese, Purnata works holistically, collaboratively and comprehensively using research and innovative measures to end human trafficking by focusing on prevention, and ensuring wholeness for all. They are into research, rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration and mostly prevention in Mumbai & Kolkata on Human Trafficking issues.

In its 70 year journey since Independence, India has witnessed the rise of the ‘modern Indian woman’ who has fought valiantly with a smile on her face. Through this celebration, Renaissance Mumbai salutes the spirit of every woman who has risen against adversities to make a place for herself.

To celebrate India’s culinary diversity, Renaissance Mumbai curated a brunch buffet serving dishes inspired by the 29 states of India created by Executive Chef – Sahil Arora & his team. Deemed to be one of the longest Independence Day brunch buffets in town with a menu inspired by the diversity of India, exotic dishes representing the different parts of India were served at this exclusive brunch!

The menu included various live stations of famous regional dishes such as Dilli ki Chaat, Punjabi Chole Kulche, Maharashtrian Komdi Wada, Appam with Stew, Hyderabadi Dum Biryanis amongst many more.

Speaking about the celebrations, Ms. Babita Tanwar – Hotel Manager said, “This Independence Day we aimed to celebrate the spirit of the modern Indian women and who better than the members of Purnata to celebrate it with! It was a great experience for us to have their members hoist the flag with us and join us over brunch.

The buffet brunch at Lake View Cafe aimed at showcasing the variety in Indian Cuisines to our expat guests and allowed the Indian patrons to try and experience the different cuisines of our diverse country.”

Keeping in tune with the property’s motto of ‘discovering something new every day’ the Independence Day was spent over much food and laughter.
