9:45am: The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex rises 18.73, or 0.07%, to 27,716.24, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) falls 3.65 points, or 0.04%, to 8,541.20.
9:35am: Punj Lloyd Ltd rises 6.1% to Rs.20.90 after the company informed BSE that Pt Engineering Ltd, subsidiary of the Company has sold its entire shareholding in its wholly owned subsidiary registered in United Kingdom viz Simon Carves Engineering Limited to Engineers and Constructors International, Inc.
9:30am: The Indian rupee on Thursday strengthens against the US dollar at 66.88 a dollar, up 0.15% from its previous close of 66.99, tracking the gains in the local equity markets, after the Rajya Sabha passed the constitution amendment bill for the goods and services tax (GST).
9:25am: India’s 10-year bond yield is at 7.187%, as compared with its Wednesday’s close of 7.195%.
9:20am: The dollar weakens to ¥101.09 from ¥101.28 while the euro falls slightly to $1.1147 from $1.1148.
9:15am: Benchmark US crude climbs 27 cents to $41.10 per barrel in New York. The contract jumped $1.32, or 3.3%, to close at $40.83 on Wednesday after the US government said stockpiles of gasoline shrank by more than 3 million barrels last week. Brent crude rises 25 cents to $43.35 a barrel in London.
9:10am: Japan’s Nikkei 225 falls 0.4% to 16,020.15 and China’s Shanghai Composite Index drops 0.6% to 2,960.07. But South Korea’s Kospi adds 0.2% to 1,998.51 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index adds 0.3% to 21,812.79. Stocks in Taiwan are lower but stock markets in Singapore and Indonesia are higher.
9:00am:Asian stock markets are mixed on Thursday as ahead of the Bank of England’s upcoming announcement of its monetary policy decision. Oil prices extended gains.
8:50am: US stocks edged higher on Wednesday as the big gains in the price of oil boosted energy companies. The Dow Jones industrial average broke a seven-day losing streak and added 0.2% to 18,355. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index gained 0.3% to 2,163.79. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.4% to 5,159.74.
