Industries and Municipal Administration Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao said that all industries should enhance greenery on their premises by allocating one-third of the space for this purpose.
He participated in the sapling plantation programme at integrated consumer goods manufacturing and logistics facility of ITC located near Toopran on Friday.
Addressing a gathering, Mr. Rama Rao said that these details would be made available online and sapling planted would be monitored through geo-mapping and geo-fencing.
He said that industries can reduce pollution by increasing green cover in their units, and it was decided to plant as many as 42 lakh saplings in industries this year.
Mr. Rama Rao has called upon the industries to come forward for the block plantation adoption.
The Minister was accompanied by senior officials Aravind Kumar, Manick Raj, and E.V. Narasimha Reddy, and ITC Group head of projects Chitranjan Dar, among others.
70,000 wine palm saplings
Adilabad Special Correspondent adds: Excise Department will hold Excise Haritha Haram in Adilabad district on Saturday during which 70,000 wine palm saplings will be planted.
Additional Commissioner of Excise T. Prasad will be the observer. According to the programme schedule, a rally will be taken out from Excise Superintendent’s office in the town to Collectorate Chowrasta. Thereafter, wine palm trees will be planted along the NH 44 in Mavala gram panchayat.
