India’s benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices edged lower on Thursday as the investors turned cautious ahead of the start of the June quarter earnings. Tata Consultancy Services will report earnings today after 5pm while Infosys will report earnings on Friday after 9am.

9:40am: The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex is trading lower by 18.92 points, or 0.07%, to 27,796.26, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) falls 8.65 points, or 0.10%, to 8,510.85.
9:35am: Indian Hotels Co. Ltd rises 5.1% to Rs.136.50. Indian Hotels Co. Ltd (IHCL), which runs the Taj chain of hotels, on Wednesday said it has sold Taj Boston to a consortium of US-based New England Development, Eastern Real Estate, Rockpoint Group, Lubert-Adler and Highgate for $125 million.
9:30am: 10-year bond yield is trading at 7.269%—a level last seen on 19 June 2013, compared with Wednesday’s close of 7.284%.
9:25am: The rupee on Thursday strengthens past 67-mark against the US dollar as the foreign institutional investors continued to buy local equity and bonds in the markets. The rupee is trading at 66.98, up 0.12%, from its previous close of 67.06.
9:20am: The dollar rises to ¥104.64 after closing at 104.12 on Wednesday. The euro is nearly flat at $1.1105 after closing at $1.1091 the previous day.
9:15am: Benchmark US crude rises 57 cents at $45.32 a barrel after closing at $44.75 a barrel in New York on Wednesday. Brent crude adds 52 cents to $46.78 a barrel.
9:10am: Japan’s Nikkei gains 0.9% at 16,370.71. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rises 0.2% at 21,367.41. China’s Shanghai Composite index falls 0.4% to 3,047.86. Australia’s S &P ASX 200 is up 0.3% at 5,404.30. South Korea’s Kospi is down 0.1% at 2,005.32. Southeast Asian markets are mixed.
9:00am: Asian shares are mixed on Thursday in cautious trading ahead of a Bank of England meeting, Friday’s release of China’s GDP data, and as investors digest new British prime minister Theresa May’s cabinet.
8:50am: The S&P 500 edged up 0.29 points to 2,152.43. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 24.45 points, or 0.1%, to 18,372.12. The Nasdaq composite lost 17.09 points, or 0.3%, at 5,005.73.
