CLOSING BELL: Sensex gains 287 pts;Nifty50 logs 406-pt rally in the week to close at 7-month high; SBI up 10%

@15.09 PM: Market extends rally; Sensex jumps over 300 points, Nifty50 above 8,150 ahead of US GDP data.

@2.57 PM: Cummins’ decision to shift production to arm shocks Dalal Street, shares extends losses on Friday.

@2.30 PM: Hotel Leela Venture slips 1.4 per cent after the company reported a standalone net loss of Rs 228.87 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2016 as against a net profit of 43.96 crore in the year-ago period.

@2.10 PM: Fortis Healthcare tanked nearly 6 per cent ​after the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 90.86 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2016. The company’s board has decided to consider demerger of diagnostics business in addition to other options to monetise its inherent value.

@1.45 PM: Deepak Fertilisers drops nearly 3 per cent in trade after the company reported a 5 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 25.92 crore for the fourth quarter of 2015-16 financial year.

@1.30 PM: ONGC drops nearly 2 per cent in trade after the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s fourth quarter profit jumped 12 per cent, mainly on reversal of impairment loss as well as lower provisioning for dry wells.

@1.15 PM: State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public sector lender in India, on Friday reported a 66.32 per cent year-on-year (YoY) fall in net profit at Rs 1,260 crore for the March quarter on account of higher-than-expected provisioning for bad assets.

@12.52 PM: ​Smallcap Mantra — Brokerage Motilal Oswal Securities expects Wonderla Holidays’ revenue to clock 30 per cent CAGR and 19 per cent PAT CAGR over FY16-18.The launch of a new park will keep EBITDA margin under pressure, it said.

@11.40 AM: Three top global brokerage firms CLSA, Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley have maintained their bullish views on BPCL and have raised their 12-month target price for the stock up to Rs 1,130, which translates into a 22 per cent upside from Thursday’s closing price of Rs 926.40; stock up 8.82 per cent.

@11.16 AM: Shares of state-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation surged over 7 per cent in Friday’s trade on hopes that the ENi-Exxon deal will raise the value of its Mozambique oil assets. The company owns Area one oilfield in Mozambique, whose valuation has hit low single digit in a low crude price environment.

@10.40 AM: Shares of State Bank of India, country’s largest public lender, surged over 2.77 per cent in trade on Friday ahead of its March quarter results scheduled to be declared later in the day. According to an ET Now poll, the bank is expected to report profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 1,840 crore, down 51 per cent.

@10.20 AM: Shares of real estate firm, Prestige Estate Projetcs, surged over 14 per cent in trade on Friday after brokerage firm CLSA added the stock to its model portfolio. In a latest rejig, CLSA added the firm in its portfolio with a weightage of 3 percentage points. The stock later shed some weight.

@9.40 AM: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries surged over 4 per cent in trade on Thursday after Israel-based subsidiary Taro Pharmaceuticals reported 8.6 per cent, or $20.9 million, rise in net sales to $265.1 million on year-on-year basis on relatively flat volumes.

@9.20 AM: The S&P BSE Sensex surged over 100 points in morning trade on Friday led by gains in Sun Pharma, Infosys, SBI, RIL, TCS, and HDFC. The Nifty50 reclaimed its crucial resistance level of 8100 for the first time since November 4 supported by gains in oil & gas, metals, banks, auto, and realty stocks.

Rupee up : The Rupee strengthened for the second consecutive session against the dollar by rising 16 paise to 67.17 on sustained selling of the American currency amid a continued rally in domestic equities. Fresh foreign fund inflows also weighed on the local currency.

Call rates down: The overnight call money rates finished lower at 6.10%. It resumed higher at 6.60% and moved in a wide range between 6.60% and 6.08%.

Liquidity: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF), purchased securities worth Rs 14,013 crore in 23-bids at the overnight repo auction at a fixed rate of 6.50 per cent, while it sold securities worth Rs 7,423 crore from 30-bids at the overnight reverse repo auction at a fixed rate of 6.00 per cent yesterday evening.

Bonds bearish: Government bonds (G-Sec) prices turned bearish due to fresh selling pressure from banks and corporates. The 7.59% 10-year benchmark bond maturing in 2026 slipped to Rs 100.8050 from Rs 100.8450, while its yield inched up to 7.47% from 7.46%. The 7.59% G-Secs maturing in 2030 dipped to Rs 100.9775 from Rs 101.0350, while its yield moved up to 7.76% from 7.75%. The 7.72% G-Secs maturing in 2025, the 7.68% G-Secs maturing in 2023 and the 8.30% G-Secs maturing in 2042 also quoted lower to Rs 100.37, Rs 100.5125 and Rs 104.36 respectively.
