Andhra Bank To Launch Bharat Bill Payment Service Soon

Vijayawada: Andhra Bank will soon launch a Bharat Bill Payment service, to enable customers to make all utility bill payments.

“RBI (Reserve Bank of India) gave its approval two days ago for us to launch this service and it should hopefully be operational by September,” Andhra Bank managing director and CEO Suresh N Patel said.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday evening, Mr Patel said the bank would also launch soon a user payment interface that will enable customers to carry out money transfers using their mobiles.

He said Andhra Bank was focusing on delivery of services using technology under the JAM (Jandhan-Aadhar-Mobile) initiative.

“We have launched a number of IT initiatives for convenient banking experience. By providing details of their Aadhar and mobile number, customers can make better use of our services on the mobile platform,” he added.

Mr Patel, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday afternoon and presented a cheque for Rs 50 lakh for the CM Relief Fund, said the bank would appoint women of self-help groups as banking correspondents.

“We will do it on a pilot basis in one district and depending on the outcome will try to replicate it. As such we already have a wide network of BCs who are doing well,” he said.

Andhra Bank signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the Andhra Pradesh government for extending loans to investors ready to invest in different projects in the state’s new capital Amaravati, Mr Patel said.
