Medical care was neglected in Andhra Pradesh under the previous Congress Government but things have improved after the TDP-led dispensation assumed power in 2014, K Ravindra, Excise and BC Welfare Minister, said. The TDP-led Government was taking a series of measures to streamline the medical and healthcare sector in the State. The previous Congress Government had neglected this key sector, he said. He was speaking after inaugurating Dr NTR Vaidya Seva at Andhra Hospital here. He said 250 medical services were brought under NTR Vaidya Seva, a health scheme of the Naidu Government. According to the Government, Dr NTR Vaidya Seva is the flagship scheme of all health initiatives of the State with a mission to provide quality healthcare to the poor. The aim of the Government is to achieve “Health for All” in order to facilitate the effective implementation of the scheme. The Minister said the District Government Hospital here will be upgraded with addition of more beds. A new medical college and a cancer hospital will also be set up soon in Machilipatnam.
