Bhopal, 8 March 2016 :On the occasion of International Women’s day, Courtyard by women centric issues and also most conveniently ignored topics like financial independence, body shaming, women hygiene and gender attitudes prevailing in the society.On this occasion, 18 women from different walks of life were also felicitated for their contribution to society.
Mr. Manish Shanker Sharma (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Government of Madhya Pradeshwho was the Guest of Honor, delivered the inaugural speech.He shared his views on gender issues, women rights and job opportunities in the present times.
In his welcome address, Elton Hurtis, General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal said “It becomes much more important to table the issues because of the increasing violence and insecure environment towards women in India.”
The Program began with a series of lectures by experts on various topics concerning women. Ms. Ranju Alex, General Manager of JW Marriott Kolkata and Multi Property Vice President East India delivered her lecture on ‘Inspiringthe Working Woman of Tomorrow’. Sheshed light on empowermentof the working womanin society. Ms. Shibani Ghosh, an Entrepreneur and a Social Worker, gave an insider’s view of what it takes to be an entrepreneur through her topic ‘Vocation as a Women Entrepreneur’.
Ms. Nidhi Agrawal, in her lecture on‘Finding Your Strengths’,gave an overview of the inner strengths of a woman.How education plays a key role in shaping the career of a woman was yet another good lecture delivered by Ms. Sujata Lakhani on‘Importance of Education for the Girl Child’.Dr. Shalini Kapoor spoke about the taboos in our society and how we can overcome it. Her discourse included growing health issues among women, mainly the threats of breast and cervical cancer.
|In the second half of the Program, a panel discussion was heldwhich discussed‘Why India needs to celebrate her Women’. The keynote speakers on the panel were Ms. Pratibha Lalwani, Mr. Shashi Keswani, Ms. Ranju Alex, Ms. Madhuri Mishra and Ms. Chandana Arora.
