Bhopal: On the eve of World Women’s Day Bhopal based S.pace, a co-working area and incubation centre, organised a panel discussion. The panel consisted of women achievers from various fields had a discussion on “Importance of financial literacy”.
The conference saw speakers as : Aruna Nanda, Adventure traveller; Bhakti Sharma, Sarpanch , Barkhedi Abdulla;) Umang Shridhar, Founder Khadigi and Mudra Keswani, Food Blogger. These women discussed their struggles and stories.
The speakers talked about various government schemes and financial support available to women for starting a business and the ways to approach or apply for such schemes. Through their own stories they were able to explain how they successfully managed their finances for their ventures. The speaker Bhakti Sharma, who returned from America and decided to work as Sarpanch in a small village Barkhedi Abdulla in Madhya Pradesh, talked about how financial literacy can help in upliftment of lower and middle-class women in villages and how women can leverage government policies to become self sufficient and gain financial aid. The event saw a turnout of budding female entrepreneurs and college girls aspiring to start their own businesses. The speakers also talked about convincing family on taking such decisions and dealing with professional and personal challenges that being an entrepreneur poses for women.
The speakers opined that the women in India are now the new face of technology, innovation and power. They have fought against the gender- biases to make their mark even in inherently male dominated fields.
