Universities should also contribute to eradicate Malnutrition and T.B.-Governor Smt. Patel

Bhopal : June, 2018 : Universities should shoulder social responsibilities also by not restricting themselves only to education. Universities must come forward to make the Malnutrition and T.B. free society. They must adopt villages in their vicinity and generate public awareness about malnutrition and T.B. through counselling in these villages. This was said by the Governor in a meeting of T.B. Association and Red Cross Society held at Gwalior today.

The Governor Smt. Patel has said that Vice Chancellors and Registrars of the universities should lead this noble initiative. Pregnant women and citizens should be told through counselling that they have to use Rs. 16 thousand being given by the government to pregnant and lactating women for nutritious diet only. She mentioned that malnourished children will not only born, if we succeed in making them understand the importance of nutrition. She further stated that they should make people understand that free T.B. treatment is being provided by the government. This disease is cured completely by regular treatment.

Children celebrate birth day with Governor

Aganwadi’s children celebrated birth day with the Governor Smt. Patel. She distributed toffees and fruits to the children in aganwadi centre. Birth day of Mayank, Liven, Daksham, Krishna, Prachi and Almiya was celebrated in group. Smt. Patel helped them in wearing birthday caps and cut cake with them. She also distributed mangoes, plums, bananas and other fruits to all the children.

The Governor Smt. Patel visited Government Primary and Middle School No. 1, located at Baradari too. While interacting with children, she educated them about the sanitation and environment and distributed toffees and fruits. Moreover, the Governor conducted inspection of District Hospital Murar and Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit connected to it. She distributed fruits among the children hospitalised there and inspected dialysis room, medicine distribution centre and emergency medical services besides OPD etc.

Moreover, Smt. Patel, while holding direct interaction with the beneficiaries of schemes of highest priority heard their experiences and gathered information about happiness came to their lives by the schemes. Some were happy to after getting pucca houses, some for getting free gas connections and some were saying that Mudra Yojana has made them self reliant. About 135 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan, Mudra, Jeevan-Jyoti, Bima Suraksha schemes, crop insurance, National Rural and Urban Livelihood Mission, Koushalya and Koushal Samvardhan Yojana, Start –Up, Swachcha Bharat Mission and other schemes were present during the direct interaction. She urged the beneficiaries to contribute in water conservation activities and to become self reliant by linking themselves with self-help groups under the Rural Livelihood Mission.
