The Government has taken several steps to improve implementation of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). These include
i. APIP linked release of funds;
ii. Quarterly review meetings at the national level with the States/UTs;
iii. 5-tier monitoring mechanism;
iv. Web based Management Information System (MIS) on ICDS Scheme;
v. Appointment of Sectoral Officers of Ministry of Women and Child Development for regular monitoring visits of States/UTs;
vi. Joint Mother Child Protection Card;
Integrated Child Development Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by States/UTs across the country. The responsibility for implementation of the scheme and its management rests with the States/UTs. During the last three years and current year, 67 complaints regarding implementation of the programme have been reported. The State-wise details are Andhra Pradesh (1), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (2), Delhi (5), Gujarat (1), Haryana (1), Jharkhand (2), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (7), Manipur (1), Odisha (1), Rajasthan (2), Uttar Pradesh (31), Uttarakhand (2) and West Bengal (1).
Since implementation of ICDS Scheme rests with the States/UTs, the complaints received are forwarded to the concerned State/UT for necessary action. Reports on complaints which are serious in nature are sought from the States/UTs.
