Managing Star Sports India’s social media presence during the 2015 cricketing spectacle ensured strong fan engagement and drove a large volume of conversations, ultimately being recognised at the 6th India Digital Awards organised by IAMAI in New Delhi

One of the world’s leading sports solutions companies, Sportz Interactive (SI) showcased an exciting array of digital innovations for Star Sports India on their digital platforms during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. These efforts led to top honours at the 6th India Digital Awards organised by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) with a Gold for Best Viral Marketing Campaign and a Silver for Best Digital Integrated Campaign.

Through the World Cup, SI innovated to help Star Sports deliver the highest engagement among brands on digital platforms. The activations ranged from serious to fun aiming to cater to every kind of cricket fan – while the trivia buff played #QUIZSTER, the stats fanatic took to collecting STAR Trump Cards. India and Pakistan cricket fans were enthusiastic about tweeting for their respective teams in a digital tug-of-war that was extended to an offline experience as well. The overall result was fantastic with a staggering number of conversations – over 3.5 million – on social media. More than 200,000 tweets were generated for #StarTrumps and it was the top Twitter trend in India for over 24 hours. With 49 billion impressions and 750,000 unique authors overall, no other sporting event or brand came close to replicating the success of the campaign. And it was no surprise when Star Sports topped the Twitter Brand Index during the World Cup beating all other brands that were active during this period.

All these efforts resulted in nominations at the IAMAI’s 6th India Digital Awards 2015, and ultimately bagged wins across two categories in a ceremony held in New Delhi. The brilliant ‘Mauka Mauka’ ad series with its digital amplification won Gold for Best Viral Marketing Campaign and the overall Cricket World Cup promotion added a Silver to the trophy cabinet. Considering Sportz Interactive actively entered the social media space less than two years ago, winning these prestigious awards augurs well for the future.
