Renault India, today, announced its plans for the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. The company will bring in 2016 Renault Duster facelift and two new versions of the Kwid at the Motor Show. While the new versions of Renault Kwid will be unveiled on 3rd February, the updated Duster will be showcased on February 4.
Though the company hasn’t revealed any details about two versions of Renault Kwid, we expect them to be – Kwid 1000cc and AMT. While the 1000cc will be positioned above the existing lineup, AMT gearbox could be offered with the existing variant range as well. Similar to the 800cc version, these two versions will also be developed locally at the Renault-Nissan facility in Chennai.
As mentioned earlier, the 2016 Renault Duster facelift will also make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The updated Renault Duster will get a new single piece grille, new head-lamp cluster, new alloys, revised bumper and new tail-lights. The vehicle’s cabin too could also be updated with new features.
Besides above-mentioned cosmetic changes, the 2016 Renault Duster facelift will also get an automated manual transmission (AMT). Christened as the Easy-R AMT, it is a 5-speed transmission. Since AMT is a slightly more affordable technology than the proper automatic transmissions, the Renault Duster automatic version is expected to be priced quite competitively against its closest competitor Hyundai Creta AT.
Since it will just be a mid-life facelift update, the new Renault Duster facelift will continue to be made available the existing engine options. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in two states of tune – 84bhp and 108bhp, the 1.6-litre petrol is good for 103bhp.
Renault India might also display some of its global models at its pavilion that will be in Hall No. 15.
