Punj Lloyd, Coal India, Zee Learn among 8 stocks that remained in news today

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended the day in green on Thursday on account of buying in frontline blue chip counters. Sensex closed 129.21 points up at 26,843.14, while Nifty index settled 39 points up at 8,218.95.

In the 50-share index, Yes Bank, Coal India, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Axis Bank gained between 2.48 per cent and 3.41 per cent. On the other hand, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Bharti Infratel, Sun Pharma and Lupin retreated between 0.98 per cent and 2.53 per cent.

Zee Learn and Tree House Education: Zee Learn and Tree House Education (THEAL) remain in news on Thursday after the former informed bourses that the Board of Directors at its June 1 meeting have decided to keep on hold the scheme of amalgamation of THEAL with the company.

Punj Lloyd: Punj Lloyd shares plunged 6 per cent intraday on BSE and hit their new all-time low of Rs 19.05 after a UK court on Wednesday asked the infrastructure major to pay $26 million to International Finance Corporation (IFC) for their claims.

Tata Motors: Stocks of the automaker advanced as much as 2.5 per cent intraday on Thursday after it reported a 1 per cent growth in sales at 40,071 units in May compared with 39,496 in the same month last year.

Tata Steel: Tata Steel on Wednesday announced completion of sale of its European long steel business, including the giant Scunthorpe plant, to Greybull Capital LLP. Shares of the company closed 2.56 per cent up at Rs 340.65.

Jyothy Labs: According to reports, Henkel AG may invest in Jyothy Laboratories this year. Henkel had the option to pick up to 26 per cent stake in Jyothy five years after the latter acquired its Indian subsidiary in May 2011. Shares of the company closed 3.47 per cent up at Rs 289.45.

Sun Pharma: According to American brokerage Jefferies, Sun’s fourth quarter results reflect that the key headwinds to recovery still persist, coupled with pricing pressure. Shares of Sun Pharma closed 1.13 per cent down at Rs 746.85.

Coal India: Stocks of the company gained over 3 per cent on Thursday after it said that it achieved a production of 42.58 million tonnes in May, lower than the target of 44.64 million tonnes (MT) for the month.
