Liquor Shops Near Girls’ Hostels, Religious Places and Schools to be Closed

Bhopal : November, 2017: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed that all the liquor shops situated near the girls’ hostels, religious places and schools should be closed. This action should be taken by preparing a list of such places. Ahatas (Shop Bars) of all the liquors shops should be closed immediately. Moreover, a special campaign should be conducted in schools and colleges to spread awareness among youths. Chouhan was holding the review meeting concerning control on crime against women here today. Chief Secretary B.P. Singh and Director General of Police R.K. Shukla were also present in the meeting.

CM Chouhan reviewed the activities regarding compliance of the decisions taken in meeting held last week. He mentioned that installation of GPS System and CCTV Cameras in the buses of school –colleges and public transport should be ensured necessarily. Recognition of institutions which do not observe the instructions should be cancelled. Installation of CCTV cameras should be ensured on the entrance gates of women hostels. Identify liquor shops situated in the sensitive places and initiate action to close them down. Immediate medical treatment should be provided in cases of crime against women and training should be imparted to the staff of the Health Department to bring sensitiveness among the doctors.

One Stop Center to be Established in Each District

It was informed in the meeting that girls are being contacted in schools and colleges under the special programme for prevention of crime against women by the Police Department. About 2 lakh 50 thousand women and girls would be contacted within 2 weeks under the programme. Training at wide scale will be imparted to the field staff of the police department within the next 3 months to register crime against women immediately. Immediate action will be taken by reviewing such ongoing cases. Instructions have been issued by the Transport Department for compulsory presence of woman conductor in school buses and character verification of drivers. Awareness will be spread among the students by showcasing films on good and bad touch in all the schools by the School Education Department. Constant review will be made in the cases registered on dial 100 for emergency complaints of crimes against women and 1090 helpline. One Stop Center will be established in each district before March, 2017. Proper and sufficient light arrangements would be ensured at sensitive places. Special camps will be organized in the schools by the experts in order to spread awareness on the ill effects of offensive sites. Directives issued in this connection will be monitored by the Additional Chief Secretary Home every week.
