Identifying New Areas of Convergence and Diversification will Bring Significant Shifts in Growth, Notes Frost & Sullivan

Dammam, Saudi Arabia
Frost & Sullivan hosted the crème de la crème of business leaders from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in its executive summit — Growth Innovation & Leadership (GIL) Middle East, held for the first time in Dammam, the KSA. In lieu of the rising volatility in oil prices and the challenges in the growth of the country’s energy sector, the KSA is on a path of transformative shifts. With this backdrop, the GIL summit at the Holiday Inn, Al Khobar was a congregation of leaders from various industries looking forward to explore new business models and opportunities beyond energy.

GIL 2016 Middle East was a journey to understand how convergence is impacting industries in the region and identifying new areas to grow by leveraging innovation as a resource. The event started with an insightful keynote from Aroop Zutshi, Global President and Managing Partner, Frost & Sullivan, where he talked about the connected world, its significance, and its importance. This was followed by a keynote on Mega Trends by Gary Jeffery, Senior Partner, Frost & Sullivan. Gary’s presentation showcased the emerging Mega Trends and how they are linked to the disruptive forces that are shaping countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). His session on Thought Leadership set the stage for an interactive workshop on Business Headlines 2025 with executives working together to create innovative future business propositions shaped by the powerful Mega Trends and made possible by new and emerging technologies.

“With the current transition in the economy, many organisations, corporates, and government bodies are trying to understand how they will exist in this new reality. This is what brought companies from a cross-section of industries to participate, exchange ideas, and realise that the future is all about new technologies, new areas of convergence, and diversification,” said Aroop Zutshi. Inspired by the networking and new ideas that sparked at the event, he added, “GIL Middle East was an incredibly powerful and successful programme and we look forward to repeat its success in the KSA in 2017, as well.”

The global conference ended with the presentation of the Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards, acknowledging organisations for their adherence to best practices and stellar achievements. The companies were recognised on the basis of their performance measured under various criteria such as leadership, technological innovation, strategic product development, to name a few.
