Bathini family, that administers the ‘Fish Prasadam’ in the city every year, announced on Monday that the event will be held on June 8, marking the day of Mrigasira Karthi.
“The Bathini family has been administering the ‘Bathini fish’ every year for the asthma patients, for more than 170 years now since 1845. We have been providing this free service for last four generations,” Bathini Harinath Goud, who along with other members of his family administers the fish said.
Mr. Goud said that the event will be held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds. Requests have been made to the Hyderabad district administration for making arrangements at the venue on June 8 and 9. “We have also approached the Police and other government departments for their cooperation,” Mr. Goud said during a press conference. The event sees a large number of people from various parts of the country arriving for the prasdam. While rationalists remain critical, the event has enjoyed patronage of many who arrive once every year for three years to take the prasadam as recommended by the family.
