Congress, BJP slug it out after PM Modi’s ‘TOP’ comment in Karnataka rally

During a rally in Karnataka, PM Narendra Modi stated, “Farmers are my top priority, and by TOP, I mean Tomato, Onion and Potato.

Social Media Head for Indian National Congress and Karnataka leader, Divya Spandana, also known as Ramya, tweeted a rhetorical question aimed at the BJP and PM Modi, wondering if the prime minister was on ‘POT’

This was criticised heavily by many BJP leaders and a lot of angry reactions were seen on Twitter.

Party spokesperson GVL Narsimharao said in a tweet, “Most people of the country and our party members won’t even know what you are referring to (including PM himself) but your Leader will connect with it instantly. While you have insulted people of India with your atrocious comment, your leader will be proud of you!!”

Head of BJP’s IT Wing, Amit Malviya demanded answers and clarification from Rahul Gandhi on this jibe, saying through a tweet, “Will Rahul Gandhi maintain silence on Divya Spandana’s comment while he sacked Mani Shankar Aiyar just because his jibe came close to Gujarat election and Karnataka is still some months away? Or sacrificing his close aide, responsible for his rise as a leader, takes some courage?

The Congress had sacked Mani Shankar Aiyar for a jibe directed at PM Modi before the Gujarat elections.moneycontrol
