He recently performed the first ever nasal reconstruction on a patient suffering from a rare genetic disease known as ‘ectodermal dysplasia’ using the rib cartilage.

Approximately 1000 patients with hair loss from NCR and North India, have been treated with QR 678 injections. A study published in Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy showed significant reduction in hair fall in 83% of the patients on hair pull test. Most patients had a decrease in the number of vellus hairs, increase in number of terminal hairs, and increase in shaft diameter. Seventy-five percent of the patients believed that the hair injections aided the treatment of their hair loss, and benefited in post-hair transplant patients. Post the study, significant increase in total hair count continued to be seen.

Speaking on his new invention QR 678, Dr. Shome, said, “QR678 is injected into the scalp skin through a technique called mesotherapy which works on the hair roots and ensures hair regrowth. The therapy is non-surgical and has shown encouraging results, even in chemotherapy-induced hairfall in cancer patients. The cost of one injection is Rs. 6,000. For complete regrowth of hair, about 8-10 injections are required. The total cost may come up to Rs. 60,000 which is less compared to the cost of medicines and transplantation available in the market currently. Once the treatment is over, the regrown hair will keep growing making it the most promising treatment for hair fall.”
